Following the initial processing of a customer's equipment, Canopus Technical Services (Canopus) determine the highest standards in disposal with an aim for zero landfill and component reuse.

Only approved industry partners are used to facilitate the final disposal processes giving our customers:

    • A seamless process
    • The highest environmentally responsible methods for final material recovery of both IT equipment and other electrical items.

We strictly adhere to the Environmental Protection Act 1990 guidelines for waste and especially IT Waste. Canopus is accredited to the latest Environmental Agency Waste Carrier standards, for the transport of IT waste and hazardous waste such as CRT's (Cathode Ray Tubes) and UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supplies), which must be transported and handled with care. These guidelines and accreditations are taken into consideration and especially important when we select our approved disposal Partners.

The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive aims to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it. All of Canopus’s WEEE is processed with Approved Authorized Treatment Facility (AATF) organizations based in the UK only. This is to assure safety, security and environmental awareness.

As part of our ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 we maintain a complete audit trail on all assets processed by Canopus. This included providing and retaining Certificates of Destruction by our partners. These are available upon request.
